Volleyball Picks Up Second Straight Sweep With 3-0 Victory At Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Cleveland State volleyball team closed out its current four-match roadswing with its second straight sweep Saturday, earning a 3-0 victory at Oakland.

CSU Career Assists Top-10
With her 31 assists against Oakland, Christina Grecol moved into eighth place on the career assist list, finishing the weekend with 1,952 total helpers. Grecol is one of just nine Vikings all-time to eclipse the 1,900-assist mark for their career.

Cleveland State's offense was led by the duo of Hannah Greene and Trinniti Hall, as they both recorded 10 kills, while London Portis added nine and Emily DeGeorge tallied eight.

Defensively, Audrey McConihe posted a team-high 12 digs, while Lindsey Tout added 11 and Emily DeGeorge notched 10.

As a team, the Vikings recorded 10 total blocks, marking the seventh Horizon League match that they have posted 10 or more blocks as a team. Greene posted a team-high five blocks, while Chelsea Penfield added four.

With her five blocks against Oakland, Greene now has 303 total blocks on her career.

During the opening set, the Vikings were able to gain a 12-8 advantage following a Portis kill and an Oakland error, and then went on to hold the advantage for the remainder of the frame. After the Grizzlies were able to hold off four set points, Cleveland State finally earned the 25-21 first set victory on a Greene kill.

The second set was much of the same, as the Vikings were able to distance themselves midway through the frame with a 6-0 run that put CSU up 21-12 following back-to-back kills from Hall and Penfield. The Vikings then controlled play for the rest of the frame, earning the 25-19 second set victory.

Cleveland State carried its momentum into the third set then, jumping out to a 9-2 lead and then cruising to a 25-17 third set victory to clinch the 3-0 sweep.
