DeGeorge Records 1,000th Dig As Vikings Fall To YSU

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team hosted its annual Volley For The Cure match Friday evening, dropping a 3-1 decision against Youngstown State.

With a team-high 20 digs against Youngstown State Friday evening, junior Emily DeGeorge eclipsed the 1,000-dig mark for her career, finishing the match with 1,002 total digs. DeGeorge is the 20th Viking all-time to reach the milestone, while this is the fifth straight year that a Viking has joined the 1K dig club.

Cleveland State's middle hitter duo of Trinniti Hall and Hannah Greene led the Viking offense once again, as Hall posted 14 kills on the match and Greene finished with 11 kills, while freshman Keanna Avery tied her season-high with eight kills against YSU.

Defensively, the Vikings were led by DeGeorge's 20-dig performance, while Jordan Verbiak added 13, Christina Grecol posted 12 and Halle Schoen added 11 digs.

Along with her 12 digs, Grecol finished the match with 28 assists, marking her ninth double-double of the season.

The Vikings had a strong blocking effort against the Penguins, finishing with 15 total team blocks, marking the ninth double-digit block match for Cleveland State this season. Hall recorded 10 of Cleveland State's blocks – finishing with her second double-double of the season – while Greene finished with five and London Portis recorded four.
