DeGeorge Named To #HLVB All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the 2018 volleyball All-Academic Team Tuesday afternoon, with Cleveland State sophomore Emily DeGeorge earning a spot on the 18-player team.

DeGeorge carries a 4.00 GPA pursuing a degree in nursing, and has been named to the Cleveland State Dean's List every semester of her collegiate career.

On the court, DeGeorge has started every match for the Vikings this year as a six-rotation player, and is averaging 3.77 digs and 2.22 kills per set. Among league players, she is one of just four to average 3.70+ digs and 2.20+ kills per set this season.

For the year, DeGeorge has 419 total digs and 246 total kills, and has recorded a team-best eight double-doubles. Earlier this season, she notched a career-high 34 digs against Northern Kentucky, while she posted a career-best 23 kills against Butler during non-league play.

Entering the Horizon League Tournament, DeGeorge has 744 total digs on her career – the only Viking to post 700+ digs through their sophomore season. Last year, DeGeorge set a freshman class record with 325 total digs, and was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team.

DeGeorge has led the Vikings to a 17-11 overall record this season, including an 11-5 mark in league play to earn the No. 2 seed in the upcoming #HLVB Tournament. This marks the 10th straight winning season for the Vikings, and the fourth straight year that the Vikings have earned a top-two seed for the league tournament.
