Vikings Drop Five Set Contest At Wright State

FAIRBORN, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team dropped a hard fought five set decision at Wright State Friday evening, falling to 17-10 overall this year and 11-4 in Horizon League play.

Sara Skeens and Trinniti Hall led the Viking offense on the night, Skeens posting 15 total kills and Hall recording 13 kills. Christina Grecol tallied 42 assists on the night, along with 16 digs for her sixth double-double of the season.

Defensively, the Vikings were led by Rachael Dohar who tallied a career-high tying 30 digs for her second 30+ dig match of the season. Emily DeGeorge added 25 digs against the Raiders – her sixth 20-dig match of the year – while MacKenzie Conner chipped in 12 digs.

As a team, the Vikings combined for 13.0 total team blocks, while Hannah Greene posted nine total blocks. Skeens and Rachel Stover each added four blocks.

After the Vikings dropped the first two sets, they rebounded out of the intermission, picking up a 25-22 victory during the third set and a 25-20 victory during the fourth set to even the match at 2-2. During the fifth and deciding set, Wright State was able to jump out to a quick 5-1 lead, and then controlled play for the rest of the frame, earning the 15-11 fifth set victory to clinch the match.
