Greene Named #HLVB Defensive Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the third straight week the Cleveland State volleyball team has been honored by the Horizon League, as Hannah Greene has been named the Defensive Player of the Week. This marks the first weekly honor for Greene, and the sixth weekly award for the Vikings this season.

Last time out, Greene helped the Vikings stay at the top of the league standings, going 1-1 against IUPUI and Milwaukee. Entering the final week of regular season play, Cleveland State owns an 11-3 #HLVB record, and is tied with Green Bay at the top of the standings.

In the two matches last week, Greene averaged 2.11 blocks per set, combining for 19 total blocks. Greene tallied seven blocks at IUPUI and followed that up with a career-high 12 blocks against Milwaukee.

Greene's 12-block performance against the Panthers marked her second double-digit block effort of the season, and the third of her career.

Over the last 15 seasons, Greene is one of three Vikings to record a 12-block match, and the first since the 2007 campaign.

For the season, Greene leads all Horizon League players with 1.50 blocks per set, while she ranks 11th nationally. Through 26 matches, she has tallied 152 total blocks this year, a mark that currently ranks fifth in the CSU Single-Season Record Book. With her 12 blocks against Milwaukee, Greene became one of just four Vikings all-time to eclipse the 150-block mark in a single-season.

Greene and the Vikings will close out the regular season with a two-match roadswing this week, traveling to Wright State on Friday, November 9 and Northern Kentucky on Saturday, November 10.
