Vikings Drop 3-1 Contest Against Kent State To Close Out Non-League Play

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Cleveland State volleyball team wrapped up non-league play Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-1 decision to Kent State at the Bulldog Brawl. The Vikings finish the weekend with a 2-1 record, and stand at 6-6 on the year entering Horizon League play.

The Vikings had two representatives on the Bulldog Brawl All-Tournament Team – Emily DeGeorge and Christina Grecol – while DeGeorge was also named the MVP. For the weekend, DeGeorge averaged 4.08 kills along with 3.17 digs per set, including a career-high 23 kills against Butler. Grecol averaged 9.33 assists and 3.42 digs per set on the weekend, and recorded the first two double-doubles of her collegiate career against Santa Clara (29a, 11d) and Butler (39a, 21d).

The Vikings had four players finish with double-digit kills against Kent State, led by Emily DeGeorge with 17 kills. Sara Skeens added 15 kills, while Trinniti Hall tallied 11 and Hannah Greene added a career-high 10 kills.

Greene's 10 kills came on a team-best .412 hitting percentage.

Christina Grecol finished with 44 assists on the match, her fourth 40-assist match of the season.

Rachael Dohar and DeGeorge led the Viking defense, Dohar with a team-best 18 digs and DeGeorge with 14. DeGeorge recorded her second double-double of the year with her 17 kills and 14 digs.

As a team, the Vikings recorded 10.0 total blocks, while Hall and Greene both finished with five. Greene now has a team-best 65 total blocks this season, and has recorded five or more blocks in six matches this year.
