CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team opened play at the CSU Invitational Friday, facing UC Irvine and nationally ranked Illinois.

During the opening match of the tournament, the Vikings dropped a three-set contest to UC Irvine.

Rachel Stover was the lone Viking to finish with double-digit kills on the match, notching 10 kills along with three blocks. Trinniti Hall posted seven kills, while Emily DeGeorge added three.

Rachael Dohar led the Viking defense with 14 digs, while Christina Grecol tallied nine. Hannah Greene notched a team-high four blocks, with Ambre Pierce also adding two blocks.

The Vikings faced their second top-25 team in as many weeks Friday evening, as they dropped a 3-0 contest against No. 11 Illinois.

Emily DeGeorge and Trinniti Hall had a team-best six kills, while Hannah Greene added three.

Leading the Viking defense was Rachael Dohar with 17 digs, while MacKenzie Conner added eight.

Greene posted a team-best four blocks, with Hall adding three blocks.
