Volleyball Announces 2018 Schedule

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State volleyball head coach Chuck Voss announced the 2018 schedule Tuesday afternoon, with a 28-match schedule featuring four preseason tournaments and a 16-match Horizon League slate.

COMPLETE 2018 CLEVELAND STATE VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE 

Cleveland State will open the 2018 campaign with a 12-match non-league schedule, including four preseason tournaments over the first four weeks of the season. For the first time under Voss, the Vikings will host two of these preseason tournaments (August 24-25 & September 7-8), while they will also travel to Michigan (August 31-September 1) and Butler (September 14-15) for non-league play.

During the non-league slate, the Vikings will face four teams that played in the postseason last year (Michigan, UC Irvine, Illinois, Bowling Green), four 20-win teams from 2017 (Michigan, UC Irvine, Illinois, Butler), three first time opponents (Montana State, Harvard, Santa Clara), and two teams that they own perfect records against (Binghamton, Canisius).

The Vikings, who have won the last three Horizon League Regular Season and Tournament titles, will begin their 16-match league slate at the end of September, playing four of their first five matches at home. Cleveland State will host Youngstown State (September 21), Northern Kentucky (September 28), Wright State (September 29), and IUPUI (October 5) during this stretch, while the Vikings will travel to Oakland (September 23) for their first road contest of league play.

Next up for the Vikings will be a four-match roadswing, with Cleveland State visiting Milwaukee (October 7), Green Bay (October 12), UIC (October 13), and Youngstown State (October 19).

Following their longest roadswing of the season, the Vikings will return home to play four of their next five matches in Woodling Gymnasium, hosting Oakland (October 21), UIC (October 26), Green Bay (October 27), and Milwaukee (November 4) to close out their home slate.

Over the final weeks of the regular season the Vikings will travel to IUPUI (October 31), Wright State (November 9) and Northern Kentucky (November 10) to finish out Horizon League play.

The 2018 Horizon League Tournament will be held Friday, November 16 through Sunday, November 18, with the Regular Season Champion serving as the host institution.
