Kilner Named AVCA Honorable Mention All-Region

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Cleveland State volleyball senior setter Gina Kilner picked up another honor Tuesday afternoon, earning AVCA Honorable Mention All-Northeast Region accolades. This marks the first time that Kilner has earned a spot on the All-Region team, while it is the third straight season that Cleveland State has been represented.

Kilner, who was named the 2017 Horizon League Setter of the Year, was a major part of Cleveland State's 2017 Horizon League Championship team, leading the Viking offense with 1,262 total assists. For the season, Kilner averaged 10.79 assists per set, and helped the Vikings to a .251 hitting percentage as a team – just the third time in program history that Cleveland State finished with a .250 clip or better.

As a First Team All-Horizon League selection, Kilner also posted 174 kills, 227 digs and 49 total blocks on the season. Kilner tallied 10 double-doubles throughout the year, while also recording her first-ever triple-double against IUPUI with 46 assists, 14 digs and 10 kills.

The Cleveland, Ohio native finished her career ranked third in the CSU Career Record Book with 4,461 assists – just the third Viking all-time to record at least 4,400 helpers during their tenure. Kilner also ranked fifth with 460 sets played.

Kilner was part of a class that finished their time in the Green & White as the most decorated class in program history, leading the Vikings to 80+ wins, three Horizon League Regular Season and Tournament Championships and three trips to the NCAA Tournament.

During 2017, Kilner and Vikings recorded a 22-8 overall record – marking their third consecutive 20-win campaign – and captured their third straight #HLVB Regular Season & Tournament titles.
