CLEVELAND, Ohio – After capturing the 2017 Horizon League Tournament title last weekend, the Cleveland State volleyball team learned who it will play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday evening, as the Vikings are set to travel to Salt Lake City and face 11th-seeded Utah in a first round contest on Thursday (Nov. 30) at 9:00 pm ET.

The field for the 2017 NCAA Volleyball Championship was announced Sunday evening on ESPNU.

This will be the first meeting between Cleveland State and Utah in volleyball.

This will be Cleveland State's fifth appearance in the NCAA Championship and the third straight trip for the Vikings. All five of Cleveland State's NCAA Championship appearances (2007, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017) have come under current head coach Chuck Voss.

The Vikings enter the First Round of the NCAA Championship with a 22-7 record, including 12 straight wins, as they notched the seventh 20-win season under Voss earlier this year. For the fourth time in program history, and the third straight year, Cleveland State won both the Horizon League regular season and tournament titles, becoming just the second team in Horizon League history to win three straight League Tournament titles, and the first to do so since the 1994 season.

Utah, ranked 17th in the country, enters the NCAA Tournament with a 22-9 overall record, including a 13-7 mark in the Pac-12 to finish fourth.

The other first round contest in Salt Lake City will feature Purdue against High Point with the winners of the two first round matches playing a second round contest on Friday (Dec. 1) at 9:00 pm ET.
