Kilner Named #HLVB Offensive Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading the Cleveland State volleyball team to a perfect record at the Chippewa Challenge last weekend, senior setter Gina Kilner has been named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week. This is the first weekly honor for the Vikings this season.

Kilner and the Vikings posted a 2-0 record last weekend at the Chippewa Challenge, recording a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Central Michigan and Indiana State. With the two wins, Cleveland State improved to 5-3 overall this season.

For the second straight week Kilner was honored with All-Tournament accolades, as she earned a spot on the Chippewa Challenge All-Tournament Team after averaging 11.67 assists per set.

Kilner combined for 70 total assists against Central Michigan and Indiana State, helping the Vikings to a .374 hitting percentage on the weekend. With the 70 total assists, Kilner became just the fifth Viking all-time to eclipse 3,500 career assists, finishing the Chippewa Challenge ranked fifth in the CSU Career Record Book with 3,541 helpers.

Kilner also tallied 11 kills, six digs and four blocks at the Chippewa Challenge.

After the first three weeks of the season, Kilner and the Cleveland State offense leads the Horizon League in all three major statistical categories – hitting percentage (.282), kills (13.90/set) and assists (13.32/set).
