Middlebrooks Named espnW Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - After leading the Cleveland State volleyball team to its second straight Horizon League Tournament title last weekend, junior middle hitter Alexis Middlebrooks has been named the espnW National Player of the Week.

Middlebrooks, who was tabbed the Horizon League Tournament MVP for the second straight season, helped Cleveland State pick up back-to-back five-set victories over Oakland and Green Bay en route to claiming the program's fourth overall tournament crown.

For the weekend, Middlebrooks led the Viking offense with 35 total kills, averaging 3.50 kills per set. She finished the weekend with a .353 hitting percentage for the two contests, including a .515 clip (20-3-33) against Green Bay in the championship match.

Middlebrooks also added six blocks and two service aces on the weekend.

The Vikings, who will be making their fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament under head coach Chuck Voss, will find out where they will play during the NCAA Selection Show, which will air live on ESPNU at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27.
