    LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After picking up AVCA All-Region accolades last week, the Cleveland State volleyball duo of Marie Frease and Kara Koch were named AVCA Honorable Mention All-America Wednesday (Dec. 12) morning. The American Volleyball Coaches Association made the announcement of their All-America selections Wednesday.

    LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Cleveland State senior duo of Marie Frease and Kara Koch picked up another postseason award Tuesday (Dec. 4) afternoon, earning AVCA Midwest All-Region accolades. The American Volleyball Coaches Association made the announcement of the 14-member All-Region Teams Tuesday afternoon.

    LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Cleveland State volleyball team's season came to an end Friday evening, falling to No. 20 Kansas, 3-1 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. CSU's 25-17 win during the opening set marked the first set win in NCAA Tournament play for the Vikings. Friday's loss to the Jayhawks snapped CSU's 13-match win streak, as the Vikings end the season with a record of 23-7 - the fourth straight year that the Vikings have posted at least 20 wins. The Jayhawks improved to 26-6 on the year and will now play Wichita State in a second round contest Saturday evening.

    LAWRENCE, Kan.- The Cleveland State volleyball team landed in Lawrence, Kan. Thursday (Nov. 29) morning in preparation for the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The Vikings, along with Kansas, Arkansas and Wichita State held open practices Thursday afternoon in Allen Field House with opportunities for fans and media to come watch the teams prepare for the upcoming matches.
  • Volleyball Heads To Kansas For NCAA First Round Contest

    QUICK SETS Cleveland State (23-6) will head to Lawrence, Kan. to begin NCAA Tournament play this week, facing 11th-seeded Kansas in a first round contest on Friday (Nov. 30) at 7:30 p.m. EST. The Vikings will be making their second appearance in the NCAA Tournament (2007) after claiming the 2012 Horizon League Tournament Championship. Along with CSU and Kansas, Arkansas and Wichita State are also in the Lawrence sub-regional. The winners of Friday's matches will go on to face each other in a second round contest on Saturday (Dec. 1) at 7:30 p.m. EST.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio - After capturing the 2012 Horizon League Championship with a 3-1 victory over UIC last Sunday, the Cleveland State volleyball team will host an NCAA Selection Show Watch Party on Sunday, November 25. The Watch Party will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Family Room at the Wolstein Center.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State volleyball program has added four players to the lineup for the 2013 season, as Taylor Angel (Notre Dame Academy/Union, Ky.), Grace Kauth (Chaminade Julienne Catholic/Vandalia, Ohio), Sydney Mast (Central Christian/Millersburg, Ohio) and Aaliyah Slappy (Centennial/Columbus, Ohio) have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Cleveland State beginning next fall.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio - With a 3-0 sweep over No. 4 Loyola, the Cleveland State volleyball team has advanced to the championship match of the Horizon League Tournament for the second straight season. The top-seeded Vikings have reached the championship match five times under head coach Chuck Voss and now hold an all-time record of 12-11 in the league tournament.

    QUICK SETS Top-seeded Cleveland State (21-6, 13-1) is set to host the 2012 Horizon League Championship this weekend, and will begin play in a semifinal contest at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 17). The Vikings will face the lowest remaining seed that advances out of the first round, with a trip to Sunday's championship match on the line. CSU earned the honor of hosting the championship after clinching the regular season title with a 13-1 mark in league play.

The Vikings earned the honors of hosting the league tournament after clinching the regular season title.

Along with Koch, Marie Frease and Amanda Medvetz were named to the All-League Team, while Dayna Roberts earned a spot on the All-Newcomer Team and Chuck Voss was named Coach of the Year.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State volleyball team concluded the 2012 regular season Thursday evening, posting a 3-0 sweep over the Youngstown State Penguins. With the victory, CSU ends the regular season with a 21-6 overall record and a 13-1 mark in league play, while the Penguins fall to 15-13 (5-9).

This marks the second time that the Vikings have earned at least a share of the league title, also doing so during the 2009 season.

    QUICK SETS Cleveland State (18-6, 10-1) will close out the regular season with a three-match homestand, beginning with two contests this weekend. The Vikings will first host Wright State at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 2), before hosting Valparaiso at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 3). Saturday's contest against the Crusaders will serve as senior day, as the Vikings honor the graduating class of 2012. After marking two wins last weekend, CSU has a strong hold on first place in the league standings, with Valparaiso sitting second with a 7-3 record.

    CHICAGO, IL- The Cleveland State Vikings got another league win Friday night, taking down UIC in four games. The four games went 25-14, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19 for a CSU win, bringing them to 17-6 on the year and 9-1 in league play.

    QUICK SETS Cleveland State (16-6, 8-1) hits the road for the final time during Horizon League play this weekend, traveling to Chicago, Ill. for two matches. CSU will first face UIC at 8:00 p.m. EST on Friday (Oct. 26) and will then face Loyola at 4:00 p.m. EST on Saturday (Oct. 27). The Vikings enter the weekend on a six-match win streak following 3-0 sweeps over Milwaukee and Green Bay last weekend. CSU currently stands in first place in the league standings with an 8-1 mark, while Loyola (7-2) is second and UIC (6-3) is tied for third.
