Vikings Set Two Records On First Day Of 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Cleveland State track and field team opened up the outdoor portion of its 2018-19 season Friday, participating in the 49er Classic in Charlotte, N.C.

Sprints
Cleveland State was well represented in both the 100 Meter Dash and 100 Meter Hurdles Friday, including a sixth-place finish from Mijah Collier in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Collier crossed the finish line in a program-record time of 14.77, bettering the previous record by nearly one second. Hannah Gaskins placed 24th in the event, posting a personal-best time of 15.63.

In the 100 Meter Dash, Tylar Mixon led the Vikings with a time of 12.48 to place 24th, while Brooke Armbruster crossed the finish line in a time of 13.38.

Mid Distance
Cleveland State's best finish in the mid distance events came in the 400 Meter Hurdles, as Mijah Collier placed 22nd with a time of 1:08.93. The Vikings also participated in the 400 Meter Dash, led by Adelle Tannous who posted a time of 1:03.05.

Distance
Anna Brandt recorded Cleveland State's best finish in the distance events on Friday, posting a time of 4:49.87 in the 1500 Meter Run, recording a Cleveland State record in the event. Brandt also became just the third Viking to break five minutes in the 1500 run, and the first since the 2016-17 season.

Abbey Rojeck competed in the 5000 Meter Run for the Vikings, placing 28th overall with a time of 19:26.59.
