Vikings Finish Strong At #HLTF Outdoor Championship

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Cleveland State track and field team closed out the 2018 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field championship with a successful final day Sunday, recording four podium finishes.

Following the three-day championship, Cleveland State finished seventh with 37 team points.

In the relay events, Cleveland State set program records in both the 4x100 and 4x400 Meter relays, finishing third overall in the 4x100 and fourth overall in the 4x400 event. The quartet of Tylar Mixon, Chan'lier Myers, Lauren Zawie, and Briah Owens posted a time of 47.58 in the 4x100, while the group of Anna Brandt, Myers, Zawie, and Mixon finished in a time of 4:00.83 in the 4x400 meter relay.

Brandt recorded the Vikings' highest individual finish on the final day of competition, placing third in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a program record time of 1:02.73.

Julianne Dorothal and Myers also earned individual podium finishes Sunday, Dorothal placing sixth in the Javelin with a mark of 31.22 and Myers placing eighth in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.37.

The Vikings also competed in the 5000 Meter Run on the final day of the championship, with Jessica Finley posting the team's best time of 18:48.38 to place 23rd overall.

Hannah Gaskins was named the Field Events Co-Freshman of the Year after placing second in the Heptathlon and eighth in the High Jump. In the Heptathlon, Gaskins recorded four second place finishes, while she also placed eighth in the High Jump event.
