ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Cleveland State track and field team had a successful first day of the 2018 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championship Friday, led by the multi-events group of Hannah Gaskins, Julianne Dorothal and Jessica White.
After the first four events of the Heptathlon, Hannah Gaskins sits in second place with 2691 points, while Julianne Dorothal is fourth (2545) and Jessica White stands in 11th place (1777).
Gaskins had a pair of second place finishes in the High Jump (1.56) and 200 Meter Dash (25.99) to earn her second place standing heading into day two, while Dorothal won the Shot Put event with a mark of 11.41.
Gaskins 200 Meter Dash time of 25.99 and Dorothal's Shot Put mark of 11.41 both marked program records.
The Vikings had two runners in the 10000 Meter Run Friday evening, with Jessica Finley placing 11th in a personal-best time of 38:01.41, while Kylie Scott finished 18th with a time of 39:53.34.
Samantha Butterbaugh represented the Vikings in the 1500 Meter Run prelim, finishing 23rd overall with a time of 5:11.81.
Action at the 2018 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championship continues tomorrow, with field events beginning at 9:30 a.m. and running events starting at 3:00 p.m.
