Vikings Set For 2017 Horizon League Outdoor Championship

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team will compete in its final event of the 2016-17 season this weekend, participating in the 2017 Horizon League Outdoor Championship. This year's three-day championship event will be hosted by Youngstown State University and will run from Friday, May 5 through Sunday, May 7.

The Vikings will be represented by 10 student-athletes competing in nine events, including two relays – 4x100 Meter Relay and 4x400 Meter Relay.

Samantha Butterbaugh – 1500 Meter Run
Deanna Calder – 800 Meter Run
Alexandria Derkacs – 400 Meter Hurdles
Jessica Finley – 10000 Meter Run
Olivia Hammons – 400 Meter Dash
Bridget Smik – 400 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash
Andrea Wardeiner – 400 Meter Hurdles
Danielle Yasenchack – 200 Meter Dash

Cleveland State's lone event on the opening day of the Championships (Friday, May 5) will be Jessica Finley in the 10000 Meter Run, while the majority of Cleveland State's events will be run on Saturday, May 6 (400 Meter Dash, 800 Meter Run, 400 Meter Hurdles, 200 Meter Dash, 3000 Meter Steeplechase).

All of Saturday's events will be prelims with finals on Sunday (May 7), with the exception of the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, which will be run as a final only.

Cleveland State's final individual event will be held on Sunday, with Samantha Butterbaugh competing in the 1500 Meter Run, while the two relay events will also be held on the final day of the championship (4x100 Meter Relay, 4x400 Meter Relay).
