CLEVELAND - For the second time this season, freshman Sarah Galon has earned Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced today. Galon received the honor after posting a 6-0 record in singles and doubles play last week to raise her singles record to 14-9 at the top of the lineup and 15-7 at No. 1 doubles.

Galon picked up the lone point in Cleveland State's 6-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Thursday (March 25), defeating Becky Emmers, 6-4, 6-2. A day later at Detroit, she defeated the Titans' top player, Bianca Savarino, 6-1, 6-1, and capped off the weekend in singles play with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Brittany Maxey of Oakland. In doubles play, she and teammate Morgan Ungerott defeated Anne Davies and Hayley Hughes of Pittsburgh on Thursday, 8-0, before defeating Detroit's Savarino and Andrea Buter, 8-4. The perfect weekend was completed with a doubles win over Lisa Pellafone and Angela Trecola of Oakland on Saturday, 8-3.

Galon first won the award on February 11 after picking up a sweep of IPFW's top pairings in a 4-3 win on February 8.

The women's tennis team stands 9-12 on the year and 3-2 in the Horizon League, putting them in fifth place. The nine wins are one shy of the single season school record, set in 1983-84.

The Vikings return to play on Saturday with a match against Southern Indiana on Saturday (April 3) in Indianapolis at 2 p.m. Cleveland State will then face Butler in a Horizon League match the following day, also starting at 2 p.m.
