ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team picked up one of the biggest wins in program history with a convincing 6-1 victory over Butler on Sunday afternoon at River Oaks Racquet Club.

It is the first time that head coach Brian Etzkin has led the Vikings to a win over Butler in his eight years at the helm.

"This is no doubt one of the biggest wins in program history," Etzkin said. "To be able to get past a Horizon League team that we haven't been able to beat over the last eight years speaks volumes for how far this program has come.

"We have been so close to getting over the hump the last few years and to do so in this manner is how every coach would want it. I thought we came out with a lot of intensity and played great doubles and when things got a little tight, we didn't wilt and kept going after it."

The win improved CSU to 14-11 overall and 5-1 in the Horizon League. It also sets up a showdown on Saturday (April 17) at Detroit with the winner of that match clinching second place in the league and a first round bye in the league tournament.
