CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches and swept the singles competition to defeat Milwaukee on Senior Day. The team improved to 15-6 overall and 4-2 in the Horizon League.
Freshmen duo of Melissa Holzinger and Jackie Tabb won at No. 2 doubles, defeating Martina Schnapp and Ashley Schoneman 8-4. Sophomore Charlotte Gibbons and senior Morgan Ungerott won at No. 3 doubles, winning 8-4 over Jenna Felsher and Sammi Schoen.
Senior Jenn Myers defeated Martina Schnapp at No. 3 singles, winning 6-2, 6-2, while freshman Sanda Bjelan won 6-3, 6-3 over Sammi Schoen at No. 4 singles. Gibbons won her sixth consecutive singles match, defeating Ashley Schoneman 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Sophomore Denisa Muntean won 7-6 (5), 6-4 at No. 6 singles, winning over Jenna Felsher.
"Our doubles played extremely well, their best all season," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "It was nice to honor our seniors and thank them for their contribution to the program."
The Vikings travel to Valparaiso, Ind. on Saturday, April 19 at 10:00 a.m.
