CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team took two of three in doubles and swept the singles competition to defeat Green Bay, 7-0. The win improves the squad to 14-6 overall and 3-2 against Horizon League opponents.
Freshmen Melissa Holzinger and Jackie Tabb moved up into the No. 2 doubles spot, winning 8-6 over Kelly Stadum and Laura Bartingale to claim the doubles point. Sophomore Charlotte Gibbons and senior Morgan Ungerott won a quick 8-0 at No. 3 doubles to begin the match.
Senior Jenn Myers won 6-0, 6-3 over Lauryn Grimando at No. 3 singles, while freshman Sanda Bjelan defeated Callee Conda 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Denisa Muntean won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles while senior Lindsay Sellers, filling in at the No. 6 singles spot, defeated Kari Petrashek 6-1, 6-0.
"We got off to a fast start in doubles, especially with our No. 3 doubles being on point all season," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We kept the momentum going into singles amd it was great to see Lindsay jump into the lineup and fill an important role since Charlotte was not able to play singles today."
The Vikings face Milwaukee for Senior Day tomorrow, Saturday, April 12 at 4:00 p.m
