LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Cleveland State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Kansas on Monday afternoon in a nonconference match at the Jayhawk Tennis Facility.

The Vikings jumped out to a 1-0 lead by winning two of the three doubles matches to win the doubles point.

Catrine Bjerrehus and Charlotte Gibbons teamed for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while Maria Lazaris and Nicole Janek won at No. 2 doubles, 8-3.

"I was very pleased with the way we played doubles today," assistant coach Jay Tee said. "Our No. 1 and No. 2 teams played well together and got us off to a great start. Unfortunately, we couldn't sustain that momentum in singles play."

Kansas rallied to win all six singles matches, including five in straight sets. Lazaris lost at No. 2 singles in three sets, falling, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

The Vikings conclude their Spring Break trip with two matches at Iowa State on Wednesday, March 17. CSU will play ISU at 9:00 a.m. and then face South Dakota at 12:00 p.m.
