CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Freshman Catrine Bjerrehus has been named Horizon League Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

This is the second time this season Bjerrehus has been recognized for this award, having also been chosen on Feb. 11 for her efforts against Robert Morris and Niagara.

Most recently, Bjerrehus went 3-0 at both singles and doubles in a loss against IPFW and wins against Oakland and Dayton. She partnered with Charlotte Gibbons to anchor the Viking doubles charge as they cruised to three victories at the No. 1 spot.

On the singles front, Bjerrehus moved from No. 2 to No. 1 for the doubleheader against Oakland and Dayton where she picked up two close wins against tough competitors from both schools. The matches marked her first time back at first singles since Gibbons returned from an injury earlier in the year.

"Catrine played some good tennis this weekend; she created offense and used it wisely," said Cleveland State coach Brian Etzkin. "She succeeded against several opponents that relied on consistency to win matches. If she keeps working hard, she will be at her best when we open our conference schedule."

Bjerrehus and the CSU women's tennis team will be carrying a 7-6 record down to Florida this weekend for their spring trip, where they will face North Dakota, Long Island, Coastal Carolina, and Fairleigh Dickinson throughout the course of next week.
