Women's Tennis Shuts Out Fairleigh Dickinson, 7-0

Orlando, Fla.The Cleveland State women's tennis team marked it's first day of spring training with a 7-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson Sunday evening, improving to 9-7 for the year.

The Vikings got off to a quick start in doubles action, downing the Knights 8-0 in all three matches. Sarah Galon and Morgan Ungerott lead the way at No. 1 singles. On a five-match winning streak, the duo is 13-5 for the year.

In singles action, CSU was equally as impressive. The Vikings shut out Fairleigh Dickinson 6-0, 6-0 in five of their six singles matches. In the sixth match, CSU downed the Knights 6-0, 6-1.

"It was a pretty good outing for us," said coach Brian Etzkin. "This is a team that is at the beginning of a rebuilding stage and we have a lot of respect for them because we were in the same position ourselves a few years ago."

For No. 2 Jenn Myers, today's win boosts her record to 15-7 and marks her fourth straight victory.

Both the men's and women's tennis teams are back in action tomorrow when they take on Fairfield University.
