Cleveland State’s Tounsi Named To #HLTennis All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the 2022 Women's Tennis All-Academic Team Tuesday afternoon, with Cleveland State sophomore Selma Tounsi earning a spot on the nine-member team.

This marks the first All-Academic honor for Tounsi during her collegiate career.

Tounsi – a native of Montreal, Canada – is currently pursuing a degree in business, and has earned a spot on the CSU Dean's List every semester of her collegiate career.

On the court, Tounsi has played primarily throughout the middle part of the singles lineup, picking up 11 wins on the year. Tounsi has also been part of Cleveland State's No. 2 doubles team with Bethany Yauch, owning a team-best 13-10 record – including a 12-8 mark at the No. 2 spot this spring.

Tounsi and Yauch were named the Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week earlier this season, and represent one of two Viking tandems to earn the accolade.

Last weekend, Tounsi and the Vikings captured the 2022 Horizon League Regular Season Championship, finishing with a perfect 6-0 record against league opponents.
