Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Falls At Butler

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued the 2022 spring campaign Friday, dropping a 4-3 match at Butler.

Despite dropping the doubles point, the Vikings were able to pick up a 6-1 win at the No. 3 spot, as Tereze Vevere and Oihane Vicario notched a win over Butler's Emma Beavin and Sara Linn.

Cleveland State's three singles wins came at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 spots against Butler.

Klara Mrcela picked up a 6-4, 7-6(7) victory at the No. 3 spot against Sara Linn, while Vevere notched a 6-4, 6-1 win over Norah Balthazor at No. 4 singles, and Bethany Yauch earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 5 spot against Katie Beavin.

With her win at No. 5 singles, Yauch now has a team-best 9-4 singles record this spring, and a team-best 16-8 mark on the year.

The Vikings will close out the weekend tomorrow (Saturday, March 5), traveling to Ball State for a 12:00 p.m. match.
