MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team closed out regular season play Sunday, dropping another hard fought 4-3 contest at Milwaukee.

After dropping the doubles point, the Vikings were able to quickly even the score at the start of singles, as Klara Mrcela picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot. Mrcela's win over Anna Daniel Fuentes marked her eighth straight singles win, as she finished regular season play with an 8-4 mark against league opponents.

Cleveland State then gained a 2-1 advantage after picking up a win at No. 6 singles, with Gaby Schoenberg earning a 6-2, 6-4 win for her first Horizon League singles victory of the season.

Milwaukee answered with a win at No. 2 singles, before Kateryna Avram gave the Vikings a 3-2 edge with a win at the No. 5 spot, posting a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Anika Tylek.

The Panthers once again knotted the score after picking up the point at No. 4 singles, marking the match between Miruna Vasilescu and Greta Carbone at the top of the lineup the deciding point.

Vasilescu was able to earn a 6-4 win during the opening set, but Carbone responded with a 6-4 win of her own in the second frame, forcing a third and deciding set. Carbone was eventually able to win the third set in a tiebreaker, clinching the match for the Panthers.

Next up for the Vikings will be the 2021 Horizon League Tournament, as they will enter Saturday's (May 1) Semifinals as the No. 4 seed.
