Vikings Fall At West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued the 2021 season Friday afternoon, dropping a 7-0 contest at West Virginia.

"With every match that we are playing this season we are continuing to get better, but we just need to work on finishing matches when we have the opportunity," head coach Frank Polito said. "Kate and Blanche played some really good doubles today, and I'm excited to see them continue to improve throughout the season. We will get back to the practice courts this week and look ahead to returning home next weekend."

Despite dropping the doubles point, the Vikings were able to pick up a win at the No. 2 spot, as Blanche Lenoan and Kateryna Avram earned a 6-3 victory over the Mountaineers. This marked the second doubles win for Lenoan and Avram this season, as they improve to 2-2 this year.

Selma Tounsi forced her No. 4 singles match to three sets on Friday, as she picked up a 7-5 victory in the first set before dropping the next two frames.

Cleveland State will return home next weekend, hosting Buffalo on Friday, February 26 at 3:00 p.m.
