Throughout the 2019-20 academic year the Vikings participated in a variety of community service initiatives, continuing their commitment to making the Cleveland community a better place.

"It's always nice to give back to the community and work on projects that help the greater Cleveland area," head coach Frank Polito said. "As a team, we take pride in our community service efforts, and we are definitely looking forward to continuing this next year as we do our part to have a positive impact on the Cleveland community."

During the shortened academic year, the Vikings spent time tutoring at the Cleveland State Campus International School and took part in women's tennis clinics.

The Vikings also participated in the athletic department's Adopt-A-Family initiative, partnering with the men's basketball team to raise money and collect gifts to provide a memorable holiday for a local family in need. In addition, they took part in the inaugural Cleveland State Athletics Vikes-4-Vikes initiative, hosting a canned food drive at their home match that fell during Bleed Green week which benefitted Life Up Vikes – Cleveland State's on-campus food pantry.

This marks the second straight year that Cleveland State has been honored for their community service efforts by the ITA, as the Vikings were also the ITA Midwest Region Community Service Award recipient last year.
