Vikings Host Dayton In Final Non-League Match Of The Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will take a break from Horizon League play with a midweek match on Wednesday, April 3, hosting Dayton at 2:00 p.m. in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.

Last Time Out…
The Vikings picked up a 6-1 victory at Youngstown State, improving to 3-0 in Horizon League action and marking their fourth straight win to close out the month of March.

Vikings In The MMTP
After spending the last three and a half weeks on the road, Cleveland State will finally return home to the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion, where the Vikings own a perfect 5-0 record this season. Overall, the Vikings stand at 28-8 when playing at the MMTP and will host five more matches at home this season.

Avram Closing In On 20-Win Season
Entering Wednesday's contest against Dayton, junior Kateryna Avram owns a team-best 19-8 singles record, just one win shy of recording a 20-win campaign. Avram, who owns a team-high 12 singles wins this spring, is currently on a five-match winstreak and has won eight of her last nine matches.

Spindler Improves On Career Singles Mark
Following a 7-5, 0-6, 6-4 win against YSU last time out, senior Isabella Spindler notched the 55th win of her career, becoming one of just 14 Vikings all-time with 55+ singles wins. Spindler is currently tied for 13th on the CSU Singles Wins List, and owns an 8-8 singles record this spring.

Vikings Strong In Doubles Play
Entering Wednesday's match, the Vikings have picked up the early doubles point in four straight matches, and have gotten off to the early 1-0 lead in all nine of their wins so far this season. The Cleveland State duo of Kateryna Avram and Klara Mrcela owns a team-best 13-9 record this season, while Lara Prosenjak and Gaby Schoenberg stand at 11-6 on the year. Individually, Prosenjak has a team-best 19 doubles wins, while Schoenberg has 18 and Mrcela has 17.

Scouting The Flyers
Dayton enters Wednesday's contest with a 4-16 overall record this spring, and has lost eight straight matches. Cleveland State will be the sixth Horizon League opponent for the Flyers this season, most recently dropping a 7-0 contest at Wright State.

This will be the 12th meeting between the two teams over the last 17 seasons, with Cleveland State owning a slight 6-5 edge in the all-time series.
