Brian Etzkin Named Director of Tennis/Head Men’s Coach & Frank Polito Named Head Women’s Coach

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Entering the upcoming 2018-19 season, Brian Etzkin and Frank Polito will take on new roles with the Cleveland State tennis program, as Etzkin has been named the Director of Tennis/Head Men's Coach and Polito has been named the Head Women's Coach.

Etzkin and Polito will begin serving in their new roles immediately.

Last season, Etzkin guided the men's team back to the top of the Horizon League, as the Vikings captured the 2018 Horizon League Tournament title. This marked the sixth #HLMTEN title in program history, with all six coming during Etzkin's tenure.

Etzkin, who is the all-time winningest coach in program history, concluded his 16th season at the helm of the Vikings during the 2017-18 campaign, and currently owns 234 career dual match victories with the men's team.

Polito finished his sixth season with the Vikings last year, leading the women's team to the semifinals of the Horizon League Tournament for the 12th time in program history.

During Polito's time at Cleveland State, the women's team has captured two Horizon League Regular Season titles (2017 & 2016) and has finished in the top-three in the league standings every year. Throughout his tenure, Polito has mentored six Vikings to nine All-League honors, including the 2016 Newcomer of the Year in Isabella Spindler.
