The Vikings picked up their first win of the spring season, capturing a 6-1 victory over Oberlin. The shorthanded Vikings also hosted Tennessee (L, 4-0) and Eastern Michigan (L, 5-2) in last weekend's homestand.

Golawska Named #HLWTEN Player Of The Week
After going 2-0 at No. 3 singles last weekend, Aleksandra Golawska was named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week, picking up the first weekly honor for the Vikings this season. Golawska, who was the only Viking to go undefeated on the weekend, picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Oberlin and a 6-7(4), 6-1, 1-0(5) win against Eastern Michigan to improve to 8-8 this season.

…Earns Top-10 Spot On CSU Singles Wins List
With her two victories last weekend, Aleksandra Golawska cracked the top-10 on the CSU Singles Wins List, ending the weekend ranked 10th with 60 career victories. Golawska, who is one of just 10 Vikings all-time to eclipse 60 career wins, needs just two more wins to move into ninth place on the list.

Golawska & Spindler Pick Up #HLWTEN Doubles Team Of The Week Honors
The Vikings also picked up Doubles Team of the Week accolades from the Horizon League this week, with Aleksandra Golawska and Isabella Spindler earning the honor. Golawska and Spindler posted a perfect 2-0 record at No. 1 doubles last weekend, notching a 6-0 win against Oberlin and a 6-2 victory against Eastern Michigan, while their match against Tennessee was tied 3-3 before it was suspended. The duo now ranks fourth on the CSU Doubles Wins List with 31 career victories as a tandem – one of just four Viking teams all-time to reach the 30-win mark.

Etzkin Notches 200th Career Victory
With the 6-1 victory over Oberlin last Friday, head coach Brian Etzkin notched his 200th win with the women's team. Etzkin, who is the all-time winningest coach in program history, is the second current Horizon League coach to reach the 200-win milestone at their current school. Etzkin, who also has 200+ wins with the men's team, has combined for 422 wins with both teams.

Former Viking Inducted Into Cleveland State Hall of Fame
Earlier this month, former Viking Sarah Galon was inducted into the Cleveland State Athletics Hall of Fame, becoming the first women's tennis honoree. Galon, who played at Cleveland State from 2004-07, was a four-time First Team All-Horizon League honoree and was named the Newcomer of the Year (2004) and Player of the Year (2005). Galon finished her career with a program record 79 career singles wins – a mark that still stands today – and ranks second with 76 career doubles wins.

Head Coach Brian Etzkin
Brian Etzkin is in his 16th year at the helm of the Vikings, owning a 200-192 dual match record. During his tenure, Etzkin has guided Cleveland State to three Horizon League Regular Season titles and three Horizon League Championship match appearances.
