Last Time Out…
Cleveland State kicked off its 2018 Spring slate last weekend, hosting Duquesne and Toledo in a pair of dual matches. Gaby Schoenberg, Jana Schober and Anastasia Perin all picked up singles wins over the weekend, while Schoenberg and Aleksandra Golawska picked up a doubles victory.

Vikings On The Road
This weekend will mark the first roadtrip of the 2018 Spring Season for the Vikings, who have a 10-match road slate set up for the year. This weekend also marks the toughest stretch for the Vikings this season, as they will be playing three dual matches over a three-day span – all of which will be played away from the comforts of the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.

Schoenberg Shines In Spring Debut
Freshman Gaby Schoenberg had an excellent collegiate dual match debut last weekend, going 2-0 at No. 4 singles to lead the Vikings. Schoenberg picked up a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory against Duquesne, and then battled for a 7-6(5), 1-6, 1-0(8) victory against Toledo. Schoenberg was the only Viking to go undefeated through opening weekend play, while she improved to 7-5 in singles play this season.

#HLWTEN Preseason Poll
Earlier this season the Vikings were tabbed to finish third in the highly competitive 10-team Horizon League field, collecting 63 points to finish behind UIC and Youngstown State. Cleveland State has earned at least a share of the Regular Season Horizon League title three out of the last four years, and has combined for a 28-6 #HLWTEN record during this span.

Golawska Closing In On Singles Wins List
Entering the weekend, senior Aleksandra Golawska is just one win shy of earning a spot in the top-10 on the CSU Singles Wins List, currently standing at 58 career victories. One more win would put Golawska in a tie for 10th place, while two more wins would make her one of just 10 Vikings all-time with 60 victories on their career.

Head Coach Brian Etzkin
Brian Etzkin is in his 16th year at the helm of the Vikings, owning a 199-187 dual match record. During his tenure, Etzkin has guided Cleveland State to three Horizon League Regular Season titles and three Horizon League Championship match appearances. Etzkin, the winningest coach in program history, needs just one more win to achieve 200 career wins with the women's team.

Scouting The Flyers
Dayton enters Friday's match with an 0-3 record on the season, dropping dual matches against Louisville, Cincinnati and Miami (Ohio) to begin the 2018 campaign. Friday's match against the Vikings will be the first of a two-match homestand for Dayton, as the Flyers will also host Wright State on Sunday.

This will be the 11th meeting between the two teams over the last 16 seasons, with Cleveland State owning a 6-4 advantage in the overall series – winning the last six matchups.

Scouting The Hoosiers
Indiana enters the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record this spring, and will host Marquette prior to Saturday's matchup with the Vikings. The Hoosiers have given up just three points so far this season, while Jelly Bozovic and Michelle McKamey own perfect 4-0 singles marks this spring.

This will be just the third meeting between Cleveland State and Indiana under head coach Brian Etzkin, with Indiana picking up wins in the previous two matchups.

Scouting The Bulldogs
Butler enters the weekend standing at 0-4 this year, dropping its first four matches by 7-0 decisions. The Bulldogs will host Valparaiso prior to Sunday's matchup against the Vikings, with Cleveland State serving as the first of three Horizon League opponents for the Bulldogs.

This will be the 15th meeting between the two teams, with Butler owning an 8-6 advantage in the overall series. Cleveland State has won the last six meetings though, dating back to the 2010 season.
