ITA Midwest Regional Up Next For Women’s Tennis

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will continue the fall season at the ITA Midwest Regional this week, with four Vikings playing in the Qualifying Singles Draw and two doubles teams competing. This year's Midwest Regional will be hosted at the University of Michigan, and will run from Thursday, October 12 through Tuesday, October 17.

Midwest Regional Field
Cleveland State will be one of 23 teams competing in the Midwest Regional, including Horizon League opponents Detroit Mercy, UIC, Milwaukee, and Youngstown State.

Midwest Regional Draws
Qualifying Singles Draw | Consists of 64 players with the final eight advancing to the Main Singles Draw.

Main Singles Draw | Consists of 64 players, including the eight players that advanced through the qualifying bracket, with the winner earning a berth in the ITA National Fall Championship.

Main Doubles Draw | Consists of 64 doubles teams, with the winner earning a berth in the ITA National Fall Championship.

Qualifying Singles Draw
The four Vikings earning a spot in the Qualifying Singles Draw are Isabella Spindler, Aleksandra Golawska, Jana Schober, and Gaby Schoenberg. This group will be trying for three singles wins over the first two days of the tournament, which would advance them to the Main Singles Draw.

Cleveland State's two doubles teams that earned a spot in the Main Doubles Draw are; Golawska/Spindler and Schober/Schoenberg.

Entering The Week…
Junior Isabella Spindler owns a perfect 6-0 singles record this fall, posting a pair of 3-0 records at the Akron Shootout and Viking Invitational to claim the singles title at both events.

The doubles team of Golawska and Spindler is undefeated this fall, posting a 5-0 record to claim the Viking Invitational doubles title last time out. For their careers, this duo ranks fourth on the CSU Doubles Wins List with 27 total victories 

Senior Aleksandra Golawska is closing in on the CSU Singles Wins List, entering the ITA Midwest Regional just three wins shy of earning a spot in the top-10. Golawska currently has 56 career singles wins – a mark that leads all current Vikings.
