CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team wrapped up play at the 2017 Viking Invitational Sunday, capturing both the Singles and Doubles titles.
COMPLETE VIKING INVITATIONAL RESULTS
For the second straight year, the Cleveland State duo of Aleksandra Golawska and Isabella Spindler captured the Viking Invitational Doubles Title, finishing the weekend with a perfect 5-0 record. The Viking tandem finished the weekend with a 6-2 victory over West Virginia during the final round of doubles play on Sunday.
Spindler also captured the Viking Invitational Singles Title, after posting her second straight 3-0 weekend at the top of the Cleveland State lineup. On the final day of play, Spindler posted a 6-0, 7-6 victory over Akron to remain perfect on the season (6-0).
The Vikings also picked up three other singles wins on the final day of play, including Golawska and Gaby Schoenberg who posted their second wins of the weekend. Golawska earned a 6-2, 2-6, 10-4 victory at No. 2 singles, while Schoenberg posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 4 spot.
Jana Schober picked up the final singles win of the weekend for the Vikings, battling for a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 victory at No. 3 singles.
Cleveland State will continue its fall slate next weekend, traveling to Ann Arbor, Michigan for the ITA Midwest Regional.
