Spindler Captures Flight 1 Singles Title At Akron Shootout

AKRON, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Akron Shootout Sunday afternoon, led by junior Isabella Spindler who captured the Akron Shootout Flight 1 Singles Title.

"We had a tough day on the final day of play this weekend, but despite the results, we competed really well in doubles and singles just came up a bit short in the end," associate head coach Frank Polito said. "For the weekend, Isabella played really well for us, and we definitely have some good things that we can take with us moving forward during the fall slate."

Spindler finished the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record at the top of the singles lineup, capturing the Flight 1 singles title at the Akron Shootout. Her third victory of the weekend came as a 6-4, 6-2 decision today, as she picked up all three wins as straight set victories.

Cleveland State also picked up a doubles win on the final day of action, with Aleksandra Golawska and Jana Schober earning a 6-4 victory over Oakland at the No. 1 doubles spot.

Cleveland State will return to the courts at the beginning of October, as the Vikings will host the second annual Viking Invitational in Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8.
