Bensimon & Spindler Named Second Team All-Horizon League

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After helping the Cleveland State women's tennis team capture a share of the 2017 Horizon League Regular Season title, the duo of Victoria Bensimon and Isabella Spindler has been named to the All-Horizon League Second Team. The league announced their annual postseason awards Thursday evening.

VICTORIA BENSIMON | SR. | SECOND TEAM ALL-LEAGUE
After finishing the regular season as Cleveland State's most consistent singles player, senior Victoria Bensimon picked up Second Team All-Horizon League honors. Bensimon, who enters the Horizon League Tournament with a team-best 15-8 singles record this spring, notched the first 20-win season of her career last time out, owning a 20-14 overall record this year.

In Horizon League matches only, Bensimon finished the regular season with a 7-2 record playing at the top two spots in the lineup, and enters the tournament with a career record against league opponents of 31-5.

For her career, Bensimon currently has 74 singles wins, a mark that ties her for second on the CSU Singles Wins List. Earlier this season she became just the seventh Viking all-time to reach the 70-win milestone and with just one more win she would be just the second Viking all-time to eclipse the 75-win mark.

Bensimon also ranks in the top-10 on the CSU Doubles Wins List, entering the tournament tied for 10th with 55 career doubles wins. This spring, Bensimon has played the majority of the slate at the top of the doubles lineup with Jana Schober, notching a team-best 11-8 record, including a 5-2 mark in league play.

Bensimon picks up postseason honors for the second time in her career, becoming the seventh Viking to earn all-league honors twice in their careers.

ISABELLA SPINDLER | SO. | SECOND TEAM ALL-LEAGUE
Sophomore Isabella Spindler picks up All-Horizon League accolades for the second straight season, earning a spot on the All-Horizon League Second Team after playing the majority of the spring season at the top of the singles lineup. Spindler enters the league tournament with a 10-13 record, including a 5-4 mark against league opponents.

In doubles play, Spindler has a team-best 12-7 record, combining with Aleksandra Golawska and Princess Gbadamosi throughout the spring season. Spindler and Golawska recently returned to the doubles lineup, and posted a perfect 2-0 record during the final roadswing of the regular season.

For their careers, Spindler and Golawska own a 22-17 doubles record as a duo, a mark that is tied for sixth on the CSU Doubles Team Wins List. This tandem became just the ninth Viking doubles team to record 20 career victories earlier this spring.

Spindler is now the eighth Viking to earn all-league honors twice in their careers.
