EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued its opening weekend of the 2017 Spring Season Sunday afternoon, falling at Michigan State, 7-0.

"This was another tough match for us today, but zI thought we battled really hard throughout the entire match and that is what will make the difference in the matches at the end of the season," associate head coach Frank Polito said. "Although they didn't finish their match, I thought Princess and Blanche played really well at No. 3 doubles, and Aleksandra played a great match at the top of the singles lineup for us, but just came up a little short."

Although the Vikings dropped the doubles point, the No. 3 doubles team of Princess Gbadamosi and Blanche Lenoan was able to play a 4-4 match, until their doubles court was suspended after Michigan State secured the doubles point.

The Spartans were then able to pick up six straight-set singles victories, while Aleksandra Golawska forced her match into a tiebreaker. Golawska picked up a 6-4 win in the first set at No. 1 singles, but came up just short in the second set (6-4) and then dropped the tiebreaker, 1-0 (5).

The Vikings will continue play next Saturday (January 28), traveling to Toledo for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
