Vikings Open ITA Midwest Regional With Qualifying Singles Draw

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued its fall season Thursday, competing at the ITA Midwest Regional. Thursday's action consisted of two rounds of the Qualifying Singles Draw, with five Vikings taking part.

Four Vikings were on the court during the first round of the Qualifying Singles Draw after Isabella Spindler earned a bye into the second round, with Aleksandra Golawska having the best outing in a three-set defeat to Bowling Green's Marharita-Sophia Tavpash (6-0, 5-7, 6-2).

Although Spindler earned a bye into the second round of the Qualifying Singles Draw, she wasn't able to pick up a victory on the court, as she fell to DePaul's Florence Abbott, 6-4, 7-6 (3).

Action at the ITA Midwest Regional will continue tomorrow (Friday, October 21), with three Cleveland State doubles teams on the courts.
