Gbadamosi Named Horizon League Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading the Cleveland State women's tennis team to a Regular Season Horizon League Championship, junior Princess Gbadamosi has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week. This is the second weekly honor for Gbadamosi this season, and the fourth for the Vikings.

Last weekend Gbadamosi and the Vikings picked up a 4-3 victory at UIC and a 7-0 win at Valparaiso, capturing the program's second Regular Season Horizon League crown.

"It was a great week for Princess, she found herself down in both singles matches and found ways to battle back to victory. She and the team have really been fighting hard and competing well coming down the stretch heading into the Horizon League Tournament," head coach Brain Etzkin said.

During last weekend's matches, Gbadamosi went 2-0 at No. 4 singles and 2-0 at No. 2 doubles. She picked up a 6-3, 1-6, 6-0 victory against the Flames and a 7-5, 6-1 victory against the Crusaders. In doubles, she teamed up with Mathilde Orange to earn a 7-5 win at UIC and a 6-3 win at Valparaiso.

Her singles victory against Valparaiso marked the 50th win of her career, making her the 14th Viking all-time to record 50 career singles wins. She joins teammates Mathilde Orange and Victoria Bensimon in the elite club, as they both reached the milestone earlier this season.

Gbadamosi and the Vikings will open play at the Horizon League Tournament as the No. 1 seed, and will face the winner of the No. 4 Milwaukee/No. 5 Wright State contest in a semifinal match on Saturday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. This year's tournament is being hosted at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich.
