Spindler Tabbed Horizon League Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading the Cleveland State women's tennis team to a pair of Horizon League victories last weekend, freshman Isabella Spindler has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week. This marks the first weekly honor for Spindler, and the third for the Vikings this season.

Last weekend, Cleveland State picked up wins over Wright State (4-3) and Northern Kentucky (6-1), opening up Horizon League play with a perfect 2-0 record. The Vikings also kept their record perfect in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion, as they finished the weekend with a 3-0 mark in their new on-campus home.

Spindler was one of three Vikings to go 2-0 in singles play on the weekend, picking up a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles against Wright State and a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles against NKU. She was also instrumental in Cleveland State picking up both doubles points on the weekend, as she teamed with Aleksandra Golawska to post matching 6-3 victories at No. 1 doubles against the Raiders and Norse.

Spindler, who joined the Vikings for the start of the spring season, has a team-best 7-6 singles record during dual match play. The Clarkston, Michigan native is also 5-5 in doubles action, teaming with Golawska throughout the spring season.

The Vikings will continue Horizon League play this weekend, traveling to Oakland (Saturday, April 2) and Detroit (Sunday, April 3) for a pair of matches.
