Gbadamosi Tabbed Horizon League Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading the Cleveland State women's tennis team to a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory against Akron last week, junior Princess Gbadamosi has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week. This is the first honor for Gbadamosi during her career, while it is the second time this season that the Vikings have picked up the weekly honor.

Cleveland State's match against Akron last Wednesday (March 9) was the first to be played in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion – Cleveland State's new on-campus indoor facility.

The Vikings snapped a seven-year drought against the Zips with their 4-3 victory last week, and tallied their fourth victory out of their last six matches on the season.

Gbadamosi picked up a win in singles and doubles action against Akron, helping Cleveland State earn the come-from-behind victory. At No. 3 singles, Gbadamosi posted her first singles win of the spring season in a 6-3, 6-3 decision, while she teamed with Mathilde Orange for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

For her career, Gbadamosi now has 42 singles victories, and is one of three Vikings closing in on the 50-win mark for their careers.

Cleveland State also picked up weekly honors on the men's side (Joe VanMeter), marking the second time this season that the Vikings have swept Horizon League Player of the Week accolades. (Mathilde Orange & Joe VanMeter on February 16)
