CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team will return to the courts this weekend, traveling to Akron and hosting Detroit in their Horizon League opener. CSU will begin the weekend with a 5:00 p.m. contest at Akron on Saturday, March 23 and will then host the Titans at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24.

Against Akron: Cleveland State is just 3-5 against the Zips over the last 10 seasons, picking up its last win during the 2007-08 season. This year Akron is 8-6 overall, with all six of its losses coming against teams that were ranked in the ITA top-75. The Zips will take on Northern Illinois and Oakland prior to Saturday's match against CSU.

Against Detroit: The Vikings have tallied a 7-7 record against the Titans over the past 10 seasons, and have won three straight matchups heading into Sunday's contest. Detroit is currently 5-3 on the season after picking up victories in their last five contests. The Titans will face Youngstown State on Saturday (March 23) in their Horizon League opener.

Over the last three seasons Cleveland State has posted a 21-3 record in league action, falling only to 16-time Horizon League Champion UIC. The Vikings have won their league opener five times out of the last six years, including four straight heading into Sunday's contest.

Last time out the Vikings went 1-2 during a three-match Florida roadswing, picking up a 4-3 victory at Florida Atlantic and dropping tough contests to North Florida and Stetson. Nicole Janek and Kara Sherwood led the Vikings throughout the trip, each picking up a pair of singles victories.
