GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Cleveland State women's tennis team had solid performances from top to bottom in its lineup Sunday, earning a 7-0 sweep at Green Bay. Sunday's win marked the first sweep of the season for the Vikings, as they now stand at 9-9 overall this year and 3-1 in Horizon League action.

"We came in being the favored team today and we definitely took care of business from beginning to end," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We played aggressive doubles and played smart, disciplined tennis in all six singles matches. I thought it was a good day on the courts for us and gives us a lot of momentum moving forward. It was good to see Mengdi and Mathilde both get wins for us today - Mengdi coming back from an injury and Mathilde bouncing back from a couple of tough losses over the last couple weeks."

CSU opened the match with three doubles victories, sweeping the doubles matches for just the third time this season and earning the first point of the day. The No. 1 team of Alex Bush and Kara Sherwood and the No. 2 team of Alex Power and Maria Lazaris posted matching 8-4 victories, while Mathilde Orange and Nicole Janek earned an 8-1 victory at the No. 3 spot. Orange and Janek now stand at 4-0 in league play, and have won four straight heading into next weekend.

The Vikings were then able to cruise through the singles matches, posting straight-set victories in all six singles contests. Janek and Lazaris were both able to stay perfect in league play Sunday, Janek with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles and Lazaris with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot.

Sherwood became the first Viking to reach 15 singles wins this season and improved her league record to 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles, while Bush posted a perfect 6-0, 6-0 match at the No. 2 spot. Orange was able to pick up her first league victory at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-1), while Mengdi Liu earned her first singles win of the spring at the No. 6 position (6-2, 6-2).

Cleveland State will continue league play next weekend, hosting UIC and Valparaiso. CSU will face UIC on Saturday (April 13) and Valparaiso on Sunday (April 14), with both matches beginning at 11:00 a.m.
