FAIRBORN, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team concluded the regular season Sunday afternoon, earning a 7-0 sweep over Wright State. The sweep, which is CSU's fourth of the season, improves the Vikings to 12-10 overall and 5-2 in Horizon League action.

"Overall we had a good, solid match today, everyone worked on what they needed to and we were able to come away with the 7-0 sweep," assistant coach Frank Polito said. "This win should give us the No. 3 seed in the Horizon League Tournament next weekend - which is exactly where we thought we would be heading into the final week of the regular season. Heading into the tournament we have faced every team that we could go up against, so we just need to focus on playing our tennis and hopefully pick up three wins on our way to winning the championship."

The Vikings were able to pick up the doubles point to begin the match, earning victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. CSU's No. 1 team of Alex Bush and Kara Sherwood earned an 8-5 win, while the No. 2 duo of Alex Power and Maria Lazaris posted an 8-4 victory.

CSU continued the strong play throughout singles action then, picking up six singles victories for the sweep of the Raiders. Everyone was able to post straight-set victories except for Alex Power, who earned a 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (7) win at No. 2 singles.

Maria Lazaris and Nicole Janek each improved their league singles record to 6-1 on the season - Lazaris with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles and Janek with a matching 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 6 spot. Kara Sherwood picked up her team-best 18th singles win of the year at the No. 4 spot today, earning a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Mathilde Orange and Alex Bush earned CSU's final two points against Wright State - Orange at No. 1 singles (7-5, 6-1) and Bush at No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-1).

The Vikings will now wait for their first round pairing for the Horizon League Tournament, which will take place Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28 in Indianapolis, Ind.
