YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team dropped its first Horizon League match of the season Saturday evening, falling at Youngstown State, 5-2. The Vikings now stand at 7-9 overall this season and 1-1 in league play.

"We really got off to a slow start today and just couldn't rebound. Our seniors were able to fight through though and pick up the two victories for us tonight, while our No. 3 doubles team of Nicole and Mathilde were once again able to pick up a victory," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We have some things to work on during practice this week and we just need to move forward and try to get back on track next weekend at Milwaukee & Green Bay."

The Vikings were only able to pick up a victory in one doubles match Saturday evening, as the No. 3 doubles team of Nicole Janek and Mathilde Orange picked up their third straight win with an 8-5 decision.

After picking up the doubles point, the Penguins were then able to rattle off four straight singles wins at the top of the lineup before Cleveland State was able to get on the board. The senior duo of Maria Lazaris and Nicole Janek posted the Vikings' two points on the night - Lazaris with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles and Janek with a 6-4, 6-4 win at the No. 6 spot.

The Vikings will continue their three-match roadswing next weekend, traveling to Wisconsin for a pair of Horizon League matches. First will be a 5:00 p.m. EST contest at Milwaukee on Saturday (April 6), followed by a 1:00 p.m. EST contest at Green Bay on Sunday (April 7).
