McNamara Selected HL Swimmer of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Molly McNamara of the Cleveland State University women's swimming & diving teams was named the Nike Horizon League Women's Swimmer of the Week as announced by the League office Tuesday afternoon.

McNamara's first weekly honor of the season is the ninth of her career.

McNamara posted the fastest times in the Horizon League in both butterfly events early on in the 2018-19 season at the Akron Zips Classic. She finished the 100 in 56.84 seconds and touched the wall in 2:04.10 in the 200, notching top-eight finishes in both events. Her time in the 100 is more than one second faster than any other League performer thus far and her time in the 200 is two seconds clear of the next closest HL athlete. She also finished the 200 IM in 2:11.09, the third-fastest time in the HL on the young season.

McNamara is the reigning HL Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Year after she won two titles at last year's League meet in NCAA qualifying times. She broke school records in three individual events and helped two relays break school records at the meet.

Cleveland State resumes action this Saturday, Oct. 20, as it hosts League foe Youngstown State at 1:00 p.m.
