CSU Teams Earn CSCAA Honors for Fifth Straight Semester

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both named Scholar All-America Teams for the spring semester in a recent announcement by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

The women's team notched a 3.42 grade point average in the spring semester while the Viking men finished with a 3.20 grade point average. The CSU women tied for the second-highest figure in the Horizon League while the Viking men were also second in the League.

It is the fifth consecutive semester in which both programs have claimed Scholar All-America honors. Additionally, the women's program has now earned this award in the spring semester in each of the past six years.

Seven Vikings on the women's side posted 4.0 GPA's during the most recent semester: seniors Madisen Tretter and Jamie VanDewerker, juniors, Michaela Bargardi, Morgan Massie and Molly McNamara and freshmen Erica Henrichsen and Lexie Kostelnik. Bargardi continues to own a perfect 4.0 cumulative mark after three years of school while Henrichsen completed her first college year with a 4.0 as well.

Juniors MacJilton Lewis and Sean Mulvin led the way on the men's side as both contributed 4.0 GPA's during the most recent semester.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the previous semester.
