CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Philipp Sikatzki and sophomores Molly McNamara and Tommi Wolst of the Cleveland State University swimming and diving teams were named Scholar All-Americans by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Wednesday morning.

Sikatzki garnered First Team accolades while McNamara and Wolst were tabbed as honorable mention selections.

Sikatzki earned Scholar All-America recognition in each of his four collegiate seasons while it was the second such honor for Wolst in as many seasons.

"Between the athletic and academic components required to receive the award, these really are some of the best of the best," CSCAA Executive Director Joel Shinofield said.

Sikatzki carried a 3.91 cumulative grade point average at Cleveland State.

Sikatzki swam at the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive year in his final collegiate season in 2016-17. He reached NCAA qualifying standards in six different individual events this past season.

After dominating at the Horizon League Championships in February, Sikatzki was named both Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Year and Men's Swimmer of the Meet for the second straight season. He became the first individual in League history to win Men's Athlete of the Year in back-to-back seasons.

Sikatzki previously was named Academic All-District First Team and was the only Horizon League swimmer, male or female, to claim that honor this season.

Cleveland State was the only Horizon League school to have a swimming & diving athlete, male or female, earn Scholar All-America First Team accolades.

McNamara owns a 3.98 cumulative grade point average.

McNamara broke school records and achieved NCAA qualifying times in both butterfly disciplines this past season. She won the 200 butterfly at the Horizon League Championship in 1:58.79, a new school and League Championship record as well as a NCAA 'B' standard.

McNamara also broke the school record and achieved a 'B' standard in the 100 butterfly during this past season and was the runner-up in the event at the League meet. She swam on three relays at the League meet, including helping the 200 medley relay quartet reset the school record.

Wolst owns a 3.87 cumulative grade point average.

Wolst won the 100 breaststroke at the League Championships in a NCAA 'B' cut time. He also surpassed 'B' standards in the 200 IM and the 200 backstroke during the 2016-17 season and finished among the top three in both of those events at the League meet.

Wolst broke the school record in the 200 backstroke during the season, and he also helped the Vikings win both the 400 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay at the League meet, including breaking the school record in the latter event.

Additionally, two future Vikings that have committed to transfer into the program also earned honors from the CSCAA.

Erwan Mahoudo of Henderson State and Jason van der Touw of Indian River State both earned Scholar All-America First Team recognition. Mahoudo competed in the NCAA Division II Championships this past season while van der Touw won four NJCAA titles this past spring.

To earn First Team honors, a student-athlete must have achieved at least a 3.50 grade point average and competed at his or her respective national championship.

To earn an Honorable Mention award, a student-athlete must meet the same academic standard and achieve a 'B' time standard in an individual event (or, for divers, compete at their respective NCAA Zone Championship).
