Vikings Make Final Preparations at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Cleveland State University men's and women's swimming teams had one final chance to prepare for the Horizon League Championships as both squads concluded action in the two-day Ohio State Winter Invitational Sunday inside The Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

No teams scored were kept at the event. A total of 13 combined Vikings competed at Ohio State Sunday.

Freshman Ismary Puente posted one of the top efforts for the Viking women on the day. She finished 13th of 37 competitors in the 50 freestyle in 24.06 seconds. Puente was also 21st in the 200 free in 2:00.34.

Sophomore Kimberly Jimenez was CSU's top finisher in the 200 freestyle as she took 13th of 27 athletes in 1:54.46. She was also 26th in the 50 free in 24.90 seconds.

Freshman Lauren Frank took 17th in the 200 free (1:57.32) and was 30th in the 50 free (25.37).

Freshman Chuchu Yang was seventh of 15 athletes in the 200 backstroke in 2:05.19. She was 10th in the 200 IM in 2:13.53.

On the men's side, freshman Sam Sawyer was seventh in the 200 butterfly in 1:52.42.

Freshman Jack MacDonald took ninth of 19 competitors for the Viking men in the 200 freestyle in 1:44.15. Freshman Spencer Tretter was 12th in the same event in 1:43.63. MacDonald was also 23rd in the 50 freestyle in 21.60 seconds.

Cleveland State will next be in action Feb. 22-25 when it contests the League Championships at UIC.
